Arvoredo is known for its exceptional biodiversity. While snorkeling, you’ll have the chance to observe schools of sergeant majors, butterflyfish, parrotfish, and blue chromis gliding through the reefs. The area is also home to green sea turtles, Brazilian guitarfish, stingrays, and—if you’re lucky—playful bottlenose dolphins passing near the island. Among the rocky bottoms and coral formations, it’s common to spot sea stars, sea urchins, octopuses, and a variety of colorful invertebrates.

Throughout the excursion, our instructors will help you identify species and guide you to the best viewing points. Visibility is often excellent, making it easy to appreciate the vibrant marine life that characterizes this ecological sanctuary.

Along the way, the journey passes local fishermen at work, and you’ll learn about traditional boatbuilding techniques. One of the most evocative stops is the Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Piedade, the oldest church in Santa Catarina, built with whale oil mixed into its mortar.

This excursion may be paired with a beach picnic near Pontal da Daniela, where you can enjoy a quiet lunch by the shoreline accompanied by the rhythm of the sea.

The path weaves through dense forest, crosses narrow ravines, and opens onto sweeping ocean viewpoints. Along the way, you’ll pass Ilhéus Beach, a quiet midpoint, and eventually arrive at Sissial Beach.

While you swim or take in the stillness, your private guide will set up a light beach snack, set against the backdrop of this peaceful corner of the coast.

The path continues to an organic garden, where vegetables, greens, and herbs grow in harmony with the local ecosystem. Here, there is an opportunity to participate in the harvest and discover firsthand the ingredients that inspire the restaurant’s cuisine

Florianópolis Cultural Journey

This full-day cultural journey begins with a 1-hour drive from the lodge to the historic center of Florianópolis, where colonial-era buildings frame Praça XV de Novembro.

Explore the Santa Catarina Historical Museum and the Metropolitan Cathedral before strolling through cobbled streets to the city’s bustling Public Market and the former Customs House, now home to artisan crafts and cultural exhibitions. The walk concludes at Igreja de São Francisco, one of the city’s oldest churches.

A 40-minute scenic drive brings you to Ribeirão da Ilha, a picturesque Azorean village known for its colorful houses and maritime heritage. After a visit to the Ethnographic Museum, enjoy lunch at Ostradamus, featuring traditional dishes like shrimp sequences and fresh oysters.

The afternoon continues at Fazenda Marina Paraíso das Ostras, where you can learn about oyster farming, cruise among the cultivation structures, and sample oysters pulled straight from the sea.

The day ends with a 1 hour and 15-minute drive back to the lodge.

Full day at São Pedro de Alcântara

After a 50-minute drive from the lodge, the day begins at Adega Scherer, a family-run distillery founded by descendants of German settlers. Learn about the artisanal production of cachaça, followed by a guided tasting session of premium varieties.

From here, a short 10 km drive leads to São Pedro de Alcântara, a historic village known for its colonial architecture and enxaimel-style houses. Visit the Historical Museum before embarking on a 40-minute, 2.3 km walk along the historic Caminho das Tropas: a trail once used for trade, carved by enslaved hands and marked by an 18th-century bridge. The path ends at Cachoeira do Salto, a waterfall tucked in a native forest.

A one-hour horseback ride can be arranged before or after the distillery visit, offering another way to experience the rural beauty of the region. The day includes a picnic-style lunch at a local ranch.
